This is the first in a series of articles I want to share with you about my experiences in making money on the web. For the other articles, see:

My online internet marketing experiences Part 4
At august 9, 2008 I set my first steps in the internet marketing world. A friend of mine tipped me about MLM. I was interested. I started reading and reading and reading.
I bought my first product a month later;
- Adsense Secrets 4: "What Google Never Told You About Making Money With AdSense", 4th edition for $9.95.
Right now, it’s for free… I bought this product because the number of pages of the book was quite large (234).
I used TiddlyWiki to keep all the information I found. (See my previous post about TiddlyWiki: Keep track of information with TiddlyWiki). I tagged the information, organised it, reorganised it. I kept all the links to the websites I found, and for every site I wrote a little description so that I would know what it was about later.
From the beginning, I was very careful about starting something that wasn’t going to live up to its promise. I quickly found out that the internet was full of sites that promise you lots and lots of money in a short time.
I read about all kinds of ways to make money:
- Affiliate marketing (sell products for others)
- Article Marketing (write articles to sell products)
- GPT (Get Paid To = review products, fill in surveys, watch advertisements while surfing)
- Forum Marketing
- MLM (Multi Level Marketing or Network Marketing is a business-distribution model that allows a parent company to market its products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and direct selling.)
- PPC (Pay Per Click = If someone visits an advertisement on your site, you get paid)
- AdSense (Advertisements from google, if someone clicks on them, you get paid)
- AdWords (The advertisements of the advertisers from Google)
- Auction Stuff on eBay
- Blog for $$$ (put advertisements on your blog that people click on, or sell products, so you receive money)
- Stock market
- Troubleshoot PCs online
- Ponzi schemes (make money because people who join after you pay you)
I also read a lot of stories from people that were disillusioned in some way. People that spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars to find the latest and best way to become rich.
I further found out that a lot of products that are sold on one site for dollars, on the next site are being offered for free.
I quickly got tired with the screaming marketing sites, using all kinds of different font sizes, pictures of dollar bills, expensive cars, happy looking people, pictures of their profits. I didn’t know whether I could trust any site.
Right now, I’m setting up my website. I bought this domain at bluehost.com, installed Wordpress, added some plugins. I also want to make my website enjoyable, and offer good quality stuff, free or not.
A few plans that I have with this website:
- Offer products, free and paid
- Offering product reviews
- Offering MLM site reviews
- Joining a good MLM company that has a good mentoring program
- Make money as an affiliate
